Released 19 December 2002. Comments closed 28 February 2003.
Socially responsible investing (SRI) is a new and growing area of the investment market. Good disclosure practices are essential if consumers with SRI related goals are to be in a position to make informed choices between products.
We outline arguments for and against ½ñÈÕÈÈÃÅʼþproducing guidelines on SRI disclosure in product disclosure statements (PDSs).
The main arguments for ½ñÈÕÈÈÃÅʼþguidelines are:
- providing industry with greater certainty about how it can meet this new disclosure obligation; and
- providing consumers with better disclosure to enhance their ability to ensure that the product they purchase matches any SRI goals they may have.
